Entry #6: How Environmental Factors Shape Your Character

Image
From our childhood to adulthood, the enviroment we grow in (strict or nonrestrictive) dictates how we approach life, handle responsibilities, and interact with others. While both strict and nonrestrictive can have positive or negative outcomes, it's the balance and the way these environments are applied that shape our character. Children raised with strict rules often become responsible, disciplined, and goal oriented adults. They understand the consequences and importance of following rules. However, dispiline can also lead to anxiety and rebellion as the child grows, making it harder for them to adapt or express themselves freely. Although children with little discipline may enjoy more freedom and creativity, they're often struggling with responsibilities and accountability as adults. They may even struggle with boundaries, setting goals, and respecting others. This leads to issues with entitlement and dependence. Both of these forms of parenting isn't ideal. A balanced...

Entry # 5: Mayhem

Image
Allsate's Mayhem commercials are known for blending humor with a message. In the ad "Mayhem bear", the company uses humor and exaggeration to highlight the unexpected aituations we may face in life. The ad shows a guy wreaking havoc in a car similar to what a bear would do, repersenting that chaos can occur when you least expect it. Their purpose is not just to sell insurance, they want to highlight to their audience how unpredictable life can be and how important it is to be protected and stay one step ahead. The humor comes from the exaggertated depiction as well as the bear impersonation throughout the ad. The ad appeals to drivers, especially those who may not think about the risks their car faces when parked in 'safe' spaces. Their message stands clear: you need to be preapred for "mayhem" in all forms. The exaggerations and humour make this ad memorable and show how Allstate is there to protect you from unexpected chaos and encourages its audience...

Entry # 4: The Mystery of Our Ocean

Image
The ocean remains one of the biggest mysteries today. It covers a large portion of our planet, yet scientists have only explored about 5%. It's terrifying to think that most of what's beneath us is still unknown. Things like: new species, ecosystems and unknown occurances. Though, even the parts we can see are full of surprises. One that I find strange is how the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans seem to touch without mixing, leaving a sharp line that seems surreal. However, there is an interesting reason behind this. The two oceans are very different. Their waters don't have the same amount of salt with different temperatures. A good example of this phenomenon is the Gulf of Alaska, where glacier water meets the ocean. Glacier water is fresh and light while the ocean is dense with saltwater. When the meet, they don't mix right away. This creates that seperation thats visible to the eye. A similar effect occurs with the Pacfic and Atlantic oceans. One side is warm and each h...

Entry #3: Frostbite

Image
A crave of coolness overwhelms me and I reach for the tin lying in my bag. The small metal tin had opened with a loud snap. As I pry it back, a crisp, pleasant scent hit my face. In the tin lies a cluster of small, white circles. The fresh air surrounds me calling me to give in. I reach and grab one white circle and pop it into my mouth. Immediatly, a sharp, icy coolness rushes over my tongue. Almost like stepping into a cold shower, or going outside on crisp winter morning without a jacket. Its smooth surface rolling from cheek to cheek as it sits there dissolving slowly. I push it against the roof of my mouth, feeling the firm shape soften slightly. The urge to bite down grows stronger, my patience gets the best of me and I bite down. There's a loud, satisfying crunch. A rush of even stronger frost overwhelms my mouth. Similar to a gust of heavy wind biting at your face. The coolness continues and numbs my tongue.Leaving a frosty aftertaste in my mouth long after its gone. I exh...
