Entry #EC. Food Inc.
I watched the documentary,Food Inc, and honestly it kind of messed with my head. I've heard stuff before about how our food is made, but seeing it all laid out like that hit different. The film shows how the food industry is run by just a few big companies and how much control they have over what we eat. The documentary goes into how animals are treated as well as the workers and even how the government doesn't really seem to be doing much about it. It made me realize how much is hidden from us on purpose and how often we are lied to.
One of the parts that really stuck with me was seeing how animals are raised and processed. I already had an idea it wasn't so great, but watching it was honestly kind of heartbreaking and disturbing. The way animals are packed in tight spaces and treated like they're just machines was a hard watch. What's worse is how the workers are treated. People are risking their safety everyday so we can have affordable food. It's very upsetting to see and throughout the documentary I kept thinking how did we get here? When was this the new normal?
Another thing that suprised me was how much corn is in everything. Like why is it in sodas and meat and even random products that aren't even consumable. The whole idea of food being so 'engineered' just feels off. The film also talks about how unhealthy food is way cheaper and easier to get than healthy food, which is not fair for those who can't afford it and even have health promblems. The whole system seems built for profit, not people and our wellbeing. After watching, I definitely feel more aware and frustrated at the state of our world. While I was aware of certain issues, I guess this just solidified it for me. I would recommend this film to others so we all know what we're eating from and where it comes from.
I completely agree with you about Food Inc. It truly opens your eyes in a way that merely hearing about it cannot. It’s heartbreaking to see how animals and workers are treated as disposable, and it's disturbing how much is hidden from us. The prevalence of corn in everything highlights the unnatural, profit-driven nature of our food system. We must stay aware and strive for better choices, and I'm glad you recommended it because more people need to see it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Its heartbreaking seeing the animals in the factory farms. They are confined to small spaces where most can't even take a break. These films are a tough watch but I think they are essential for people to watch so they are aware of the food system.
