Learning About Blogs

My opinion of Blogs:
Overall, I find blogs to be a unique perspective from individuals. They serve as a window to an up close and personal viewpoint of the author regardless if the blog was curated around them and their lifestyle. Blogs, whether they are professional or personal, have a personal signature to them and show us the mind of the one behind it. They definitely offer a personal perspective rather than articles or books. A healthy slice of life is a perfect example of this. Its a blog that offers a little bit of everything: healthy living, parenting, travel, and personal growth and it really highlights how versatile and engaging blogs are.

Blog 1: Healthy Slice of Life
What I Liked About This Blog
The first blog I checked out was A Healthy Slice of Life By Brittany, and I really loved the overall aesthetic of the blog. From the start, it already had a friendly and inviting vibe, similar to when reconnecting with an old friend. What stood out to me was how she blends practical advice with her personal experiences. In her homeschool section, Brittany talks about the journey with homeschooling her kids, and how she figured things out through trial and error. I really enjoy when a blogger is open with their experiences, especially when they admit everything wasn’t always picture perfect. It connects the audience even more and offers a fresh perspective on the reality behind the screen.
What I Didn’t Like About The Blog Although I enjoyed the many different categories Brittany’s blog had to offer, I also felt as if the blog became overwhelming at one point. She had many categories but went into even smaller sections where she dives even further into her life. While blogs aren’t meant to be very broad, it would've been nice to have a more simplified organized blog.
How the Author’s Purpose Influences the Blog I think Brittany’s main goal with this blog is to connect with other families and share practical advice about living a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Her audience seems to be people (mostly parents) who are looking for advice. This is really evident in her writing, which is more personal and casual. She uses images, links and her own experience to keep the blog engaging and relatable, which I think helps maintain her message of balanced living.

Blog 2: 90 Min
What I Liked About This Blog
The second blog I chose was “90 min” and what I really liked about it was how thorough it is regarding football. The blog’s categories are clearly marked, which makes it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for whether it's the latest football rumours or detailed match analysis. I also liked the player rating and in depth breakdowns of the games. As a reader I feel like i'm getting more than just the summary of events. THe blog gives the audience the full review/ breakdown of events and the news regarding the sport. The whole blog feels professional and is a great place to keep up if you're into football.
What I Didn’t Like About The Blog One thing I didn’t like was the amount of content on the site. Similar to what I disliked about the first blog, this blog in particular seemed more overwhelming than the first. WHile it is a great resource, it feels like too much was happening at once. I think the blog can be simplified by giving personalized recommendations on what YOU’RE interested in and not what they put out there. How the Author’s Purpose Influences the Blog
The goal of ‘90 Min’ is to deliver soccer news quickly and accurately. The content is written in a professional tone that feels direct and to the point, which make sense to the intended audience. The blog’s detailed analysis, player ratings, and transfer news highlight the author’s goal in providing up to date information for people who are passionate about soccer.
