Entry #2: The Importance Of Slowing Down
Something I've been drawn to is 'slow living'. Honestly, it's something I became drawn to without realizing it until I began to reflect on it today. It's all about simplifying your life, focusing on quality over quantity whether it's your work or the company around you. I never really cared enough to instill this into my routine until I started to feel the stress of always being on the go. Balancing personal life, work, and school can leave you forgetting about yourself and your own needs. You know the constant worry of always feeling like there's something you should be doing? That busy life was always present growing up, while it is good to be productive, I didn't realize how it can badly impact your health and those relationships around you until I started juggling my own responsibilities. It felt as if I could never check off that imaginary to-do list, I was overwhelmed.
That's when I slowly started experimenting with small changes to help me prioritize my time in all aspects of my life. By cutting off all distractions (things that didn't add value to my present self and my future self) and focusing on more beneficial activities ( journaling, cooking, spending time with loved ones), I began to slowly find balance in my routine. I reconstructed my life by starting to set boundaries with my time and ensuring I had time reserved for me. This gave me the opportunity to slow down with my work which ensured the quality of it. It led me to become more organized and I even noticed the shift in my mood and the way I felt each day. From feeling stressed, anxious and distant 24/7, I became focused, happy, relaxed and even excited to check off each task for the day.

Hey Ruqia, I really enjoyed reading this little bit of information you got here and I think it's a great idea and something a lot of people need to hear. I too struggle so hard with rolling out of bed and immediately thinking okay what do I need to do, and just going into go-go mode. I've begun to find solitude in my free time I do have to take that time to just breathe and look at all I've accomplished and take a moment to be proud of the person I am and the future I have to work toward.
