Entry #1: What Hobbies Can Teach Us

One hobby that I enjoy in my free time is baking/cooking. It started out with simply experimenting with ingredients, but has become an art for me. From designing cakes to curating new and exciting meals for my family to try, I’ve found that cooking helps me relieve stress, and express myself in a rewarding way. I love trying out new recipes, adjusting them to my own taste, customizing sweet treats, or even coming up with my own recipes. There’s something magical about turning random ingredients into a beautiful meal or treat that not only looks amazing but also tastes amazing.

In a way, it has increased my patience, problem-solving skills, and even helped balance out my routine. It reminds me of the importance of attention to detail. We often rush tasks only to check them off the list, however spending time with a recipe forces me to slow down and focus on the process, ensuring a perfected end result. This quote by Arthur Ashe “ Success is a journey, not a destination-” taught me that in cooking and even in life the journey is just as important as the destination. Sometimes slowing down and living in the present rather than reflecting on the past or fearing the future is important to ensure the quality of your work.

Organize your day, and give yourself the time to embrace the process. The next time you find yourself through a task, think about what you can gain from slowing down and carefully executing it. Whether it's in the kitchen or anywhere else, patience and focus ensure success in your work rather than rushing just to check it off the list.
