Entry #3: Frostbite
A crave of coolness overwhelms me and I reach for the tin lying in my bag. The small metal tin had opened with a loud snap. As I pry it back, a crisp, pleasant scent hit my face. In the tin lies a cluster of small, white circles. The fresh air surrounds me calling me to give in. I reach and grab one white circle and pop it into my mouth. Immediatly, a sharp, icy coolness rushes over my tongue. Almost like stepping into a cold shower, or going outside on crisp winter morning without a jacket. Its smooth surface rolling from cheek to cheek as it sits there dissolving slowly. I push it against the roof of my mouth, feeling the firm shape soften slightly.
The urge to bite down grows stronger, my patience gets the best of me and I bite down. There's a loud, satisfying crunch. A rush of even stronger frost overwhelms my mouth. Similar to a gust of heavy wind biting at your face. The coolness continues and numbs my tongue.Leaving a frosty aftertaste in my mouth long after its gone. I exhale and feel the sharp air, turning my breath to ice.
I really enjoyed reading your blog post! The vivid descriptions you used to capture the sensation of coolness were so engaging, I could almost feel the chill myself. You did an excellent job of comparing the sensations to everyday experiences, like stepping into a cold shower or feeling winter air. The way you describe the texture and the effects of the mint created such a clear and immersive image!
ReplyDeleteI really love how you've captured the sensation of the breath refresher! Your description of the icy coolness, from the first taste to the lingering aftertaste, is immersive. The comparisons, like stepping into a cold shower and feeling winter air, bring the experience to life. The buildup of coolness and satisfying crunch make the moment intense. The imagery of turning your breath to ice reinforces the freshness. Great work!
